In my experience, fusion restaurants take two great cuisines and ruin it. Zengo impressed me, though.

Sushi ZoLos Angeles, California
No one would suspect that a small sushi joint located in a strip mall on the Culver City/Rancho Park/Palms edge would serve what may be LA’s best sushi. You know that melt-in-your-mouth sensation you get with toro and salmon? Well, at Sushi Zo, EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF SASHIMI had that melty, heavenly goodness that makes you want to jump into the ocean and become a mermaid so that maybe you can have such deliciousness for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Thanks for picking up the tab, Dad.

Delicious Japanese Food Item of the Day: Agedashi Tofu
Perfect for a winter day, slightly crunchy, slightly slimy, fully satisfying hot “fried” tofu. Topped with bonito flakes, scallions, and maybe even nameko mushrooms (if you’re lucky).

Delicious Japanese food item of the day: Okonomiyaki
Heftier than the Korean pajeon, more savory than the American pancake, and more exciting than the French crepe, okonomiyaki is filled with cabbage, scallions, meat, whatever ingredients you have on hand.
Too bad you won’t find it ANYWHERE in Boston, such a useless town.

Delicious Japanese food item of the day: Daifuku Mochi
If done right, it’s better than the ice cream version.
Note: pink mochi is supposed to be reminiscent of cherry blossoms, not strawberries.
